Currently there are a number of groups operating at the ENDependence Center of Northern Virginia, Inc. (ECNV) on a regular basis. Most ECNV groups are open only to center participants however interested consumers are welcome to drop by for an introductory meeting. 1. ENDependents

The ENDependents is a social group, we meet usually at ECNV, but sometimes at a restaurant, to have fun.

2. TGIF

The TGIF Group is a chance for local non-disabled and disabled people to relax together after a long week and feel the energy of the Disability Culture (Yes, there IS such a thing!)

Our goal in hosting these get-togethers is to further the mission of ECNV; for individuals with disabilities to improve the quality of their lives, determine their own lifestyles, participate in all aspects of society and secure their human and civil rights.

Sometimes, the greatest barrier is attitude. These get-togethers are an attempt at lowering this barrier by socializing together and creating opportunities to develop friendships in our community that might not otherwise happen!

We meet on the 1st Friday of the month from 6-8pm. The location changes each time.

3. No. Virginians with disabilities Local Advocacy Group (NoVADA)

Work together with other persons with disabilities to help organize an effective advocacy group that will work for the rights and concerns of people with disabilities in Northern Virginia. Are you concerned about barriers that you and other persons with disabilities face in our community? Want to work with others to improve transportation, housing, personal assistance, education, and other services? Worried about government budget cuts? Make your opinions heard and work for change!

We normally meet on the 2nd Saturday of the month (but confirm on ECNV Calendar) from 1:30pm at ECNV. Contact dorisr@ecnv.org for more information

4. Women and Men's Support Group

The Women and Men's Group (formerly the Women's Group) meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month from 12-2pm at ECNV. Come have lunch (bring some to share) with nice people.
