Theresa Rankin

Theresa RankinTheresa Rankin survived a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in 1977, when as a passenger, the car she was in crashed off the cliffs of the Pacific Coast Highway 1 in Northern California. Want to meet a person who has gained national attention for her work? Ms. Rankin will deliver a keynote address that will relate to and parallels many of your own journeys to access services, locate resources and ultimately live a quality of life many take for granted.

Ms. Rankin is the National Community Educator for WETA TV’s BrainLine and a co-founder of Brain Injury Services, a multi-site, non-profit Virginia-based organization that serves as a national model of community-based brain injury services and support for adults and children with disabilities due to traumatic/acquired brain injury.

The originator of BrainLine.org, a national media project on preventing, living and treating TBI, Ms. Rankin is serving others in partnership with WETA TV, the Washington DC public broadcasting station, funded by the Department of Defense, Defense & Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC).

Mid-Life Crisis Band

Need a few more reasons to join us? Ever heard of the Mid-Life Crisis Band? Their name alone is intriguing and one of the Loudoun County Disability Services Board members, the Vice Chair to be exact, is the band’s drummer. Mr. Frank D. Lombardi was diagnosed in Charcot-Marie Tooth Disease, a form of Muscular Dystrophy, over twenty years ago and since then, has been an outspoken Virginia champion and advocate for other persons with disabilities. He is the band’s scheduler and PR contact and while drumming on the side, he’s maintained a 20 plus year career with the Lockheed Martin Corporation.

Mr. Lombardi will also be giving a breakout workshop about the disability realm and lifestyle at the Disability Resource Fair on July 17 at the Cascades Library. The Mid-Life Crisis Band describes their cover of music as “Rock for all ages”. You won’t want to miss the chance to see their performance.
