The Elderly or Disabled with Consumer-Direction (EDCD) Waiver is the community-based alternative to nursing home placement.
The EDCD Waiver provides services that help individuals live in their own home/community rather than in a nursing home. It is available to individuals aged 65 years or older AND/OR to individuals of any age who have a disability. Individuals may be eligible for the EDCD Waiver if (s)he has significant needs for assistance with some daily activities such as bathing, dressing, mobility, meal preparation, light housekeeping, shopping, etc. and have medical or nursing needs.
Children can receive EDCD Waiver services if they meet the EDCD Waiver screening criteria.
Individuals can utilize EDCD Waiver services while on the waiting list for another Medicaid Waiver.
