Disability and Mental Health

Connecting with others supports mental health and this is especially important for persons with disabilities. There are many support groups out there, but where can you find them? ECNV can help!

  • NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group is a free, peer-led support group for any adult who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. You will gain insight from hearing the challenges and successes of others, and the groups are led by trained leaders who've been there.

  • NAMI Virginia serves residents across our counties with free mental health support, online groups, resources and education.

  • People First and ALLY Toastmasters is an advocacy organization designed for and run by people with intellectual and developmental disabilities..

  • People First for Young Adults is a social and self-advocacy group for youth with disabilities ages 14-26.

  • Dis-Queer is a nationwide community group for LGBTQIA+ individuals with disabilities.

We also invite the disability community to let us know if there is a support group out there that is not listed here, to please let us know about it and it can be added to this resource!
