Independent Living Day is coming up on Wednesday, January 28, 2026!

Independent Living Day (IL Day) is on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. This will be an advocacy day where centers for independent living and their allies from all across the state will gather in Richmond to meet with our elected officials.

What is Advocacy Day?

Advocacy Day brings people with disabilities, family members, and allies to the General Assembly to share their lived experiences directly with state legislators and discuss the issues that matter most.

What to expect:
One week before our trip to Richmond, we’ll host a webinar to help you prepare, including what to expect when meeting with legislators and how to share your story. You can register for the webinar here. ECNV will provide guidance and support throughout the day, along with opportunities to connect with others in our community. No prior advocacy experience is needed—just a willingness to participate and engage.

If you are interested in going to Richmond with us, please complete the registration form below. Please note that each individual planning to participate must complete their own form, including family members, personal attendants, or other support people.
